PLEASE NOTE: I will be away from work on Maternity Leave until June 2025 and will not be taking on any new clients or responding to enquiries until May 2025.
Whilst we all face difficulties from time to time, sometimes we need extra help from an expert to help us understand and address the deeper causes of what is causing us suffering. I help clients with a range of different issues. People come to me feeling stuck, stressed, overwhelmed or hurt, perhaps struggling with a relationship, coping with anxiety, or seeking self-development and growth. My approach can help people who have had therapy before and have not found it to be successful.
I am here to support you with your problems to work with you to create the changes you seek. I use a highly effective form of therapy called Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). In a session I will pay you caring and careful and attention, allowing us to together discover and understand the habits and behaviours which are fueling your suffering. As clients become more aware of these patterns they experience more choice in how they respond to themselves and others and gain a greater understanding of themselves. This leads to a improved sense of self-worth and a increased ability to form meaningful connections with others.
I offer individual, brief or long-term psychotherapy for adults and for teenagers.
I strive for an inclusive practice that welcomes and affirms all people, regardless of ethnicity, age, class, gender identity, sexual orientation, or religion. I offer an initial session commitment-free and a sliding scale of fees dependent on means.
I am available for therapeutic support with psychedelic integration.
Beginning therapy is a courageous step. Please take a look through this site and get in touch if you would like to book a commitment-free initial session, or if you have any questions.
About Me
I am an ISTDP (Intensive, short-term dynamic psychotherapy) practitioner and registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I have been practicing as a psychotherapist since 2016. Before focusing on ISTDP, I trained in integrative, person-centered and psychodynamic approaches. I have many years of experience working in support roles with adults and children, including drug and alcohol services; domestic abuse support; playwork; learning disabilities and nature connection.
I discovered ISTDP during my initial counselling training and became committed to learning and practicing this highly effective form of therapy. Since then I have undertaken the 3 year core ISTDP training with ISTDP-UK. I receive regular ISTDP supervision from Dr Leo Russel and Alexandra Knowles and have also attend many other trainings including with Dr Alan Abbass, Dr Patricia Coughlin and Dr Robert Nebrosky. I now working solely as an ISTDP therapist, following the attachment-based model.
I am also passionate about nature, our relationship with the natural world, child development and play (for all ages).
About ISTDP
Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) is an evidence-based approach shown to be effective and suitable for a broad range of psychological issues such as anxiety, panic attacks, treatment resistant depression, PTSD, and unexplained medical symptoms. Research indicates positive outcomes are long lasting, with improvement continuing after therapy ends. ISTDP works at a profoundly experiential level and transformative change can come about relatively swiftly.
Booking Sessions
The first session is a commitment-free opportunity for you to trial my therapeutic approach. I usually meet online for 30 minutes for this.
ISTDP research has shown an initial three hour session to be particularly effective in increasing therapeutic success and decreasing overall time spent in therapy. This is therefore what I recommend.
In your first session we’ll explore the difficulties you are facing and what the underlying issues might be, starting to look at different ways of relating to yourself or to your problem. We will decide whether we want to continue to work together and if so we’ll make an agreement about how we will do this.
After the initial session we can arrange shorter, weekly or fortnightly sessions or carry on with longer ‘block sessions’ as you prefer.
